Unique start to the new year
We are pleased to welcome you numerously to the forthcoming 13th edition of the Neujahrsmarathon Zurich. The popularity of this event has been growing quickly year after year. On 1 January 2016 there were already 981 runners from 47 different countries and all continents – an attendance we would not even have dared to dream of in the early years of the Neujahrsmarathon. The forthcoming 2017 edition is the first one where the number of participants for the quarter and half marathon needs to be limited. As of today, there are another 140 number bibs available for the quarter marathon and 150 for the half marathon. For the full marathon, the team run and the kids run no such restrictions are envisaged.
The obviously quite successful concept of the Neujahrsmarathon – with its worldwide unique start at midnight in the very first second of the new year and with the consequent official world leading times of the year for the winners – remains unchanged. As part of this concept, runners will again have the option to register for the marathon but still decide during the race which distance to run.
The first start at the Neujahrsmarathon will be at 9 pm on New Year’s Eve: the Kids Run is free of charge for all young runners from 3 to 14 years. Further highlights include the aforementioned start of the full, half and quarter marathon at midnight, the passage of the sports hall after each lap and the finish of the first marathoners between 2:30 and 3 am. In the sports hall DJ and a speaker will entertain you, and the restaurant will be open for spectators and runners throughout the night.
We are looking forward to welcoming you as a runner, volunteer, sponsor, spectator, or party guests to this 13 edition of the Neujahrsmarathon Zurich.
On behalf of the organizing committee,
Race Director of the Neujahrsmarathon Zurich
