Perfect Running Conditions at the 13th Neujahrsmarathon

Dear runners,

The 13th Neujahrsmarathon Zurich took place under perfect, dry running conditions. The new record number of 1100 runners from 53 different countries participated in this race which started with the very first second of the new year.

In the men’s race, 2014 winner Philipp Arnold (Cham/SUI) celebrated his second victory in a time of 2:41:34 hours. During the first 35 kilometers of the race, he was chasing frontrunner Negussie Bekele (Uster/ETH). Bekele was finally slowed down by cramps and finished 5th. The women’s race was won by the current Swiss record holder on 3000 meters indoor, Astrid Leutert (Berne/SUI). She finished the full marathon in 3:19:28 hours.
